Manipe tour de l'île / 3 days around the island

Trois jours de rando autour de l'île avec Adrien, Gabi, Ptit Pierre et Guillaume. La première étape consistait en rejoindre le Mont Fernand où on a passé la première nuit, puis de rallier Del Cano pour y passer la deuxième nuit avant de rentrer sur base. Des journées de 5 à 6 h de marche pour environ 10 à 15 km parcouru par jour: ce n'est pas toujours trés praticable!

Three days of walk around the island with Adrien, Gabi, Pierre and Guillaume. First step was to go to the Mont Fernand where we spent the first night, then to join Del Cano for the second night before coming back to the base. 5 or 6 hours walking per day for in average 10 to 15 km per day. It's not always easy to walk on this island!

Première halte à Pointe B, pour s'assurer que toutes les manipes tournent bien avant de partir. A peine le portail de la base franchi qu'on se prenait une première averse. Juste le temps de sortir les k-way que c'était fini, heureusement!

First stop at Pointe B to check before leaving that every machines is working properly. Just after leaving the base, it started to rain but just for few minutes!

La température a bien baissé, malgré le soleil, il fait seulement autour des 10 degrés et le bonnet les gants et la polaires sont appréciables!

Temperature decreased. Even with the sun, it's only around 10°C and gloves and cap where more than welcomed!

Cette fois, pas question de dormir à la belle étoile, la nuit il fait trop froid et les averses de pluies sont quotidiennes. On a monté les tentes sur les scirpes, le sol en dur se trouve a 50cm en dessous, impossible de fixer la moindre sardine au sol!!!

That time, no way to sleep under the stars! Nights are really too cold and it's raining every day! We build the tent on the "scirpes" (the plants) and we are 50cm above the ground. No way to fix it...

Une fois les tentes montées, nous y avons laissé nos sacs dedans pour éviter qu'elles s'envolent, le temps que l'on monte au sommet du Fernand

Guillaume essayant de prendre une photo avec retardateur... pas facile, et sa sacoche a failli dévalé la pente!! Ça nous a bien fait rire!!

Après plusieurs tentatives, ça y'est!!! Avec la petite bière récompense après cette dure journée!
After few trials, that's it! With a beer to celebrate our first day!!

La superbe tente 3 places Aztèque de l'appro, signalée comme étant neuve en 1995!!! Il nous aurait presque fallu un mode d'emploi pour la monter, j'avais jamais vu des tentes à scratchs!!! Heureusement elle etait étanche, mais les armatures n'etant pas fixées, elles se sont enfoncées dans les scirpes et la tente nous était preque tombée dessus au petit matin!

Our wonderfull 3 places tent, considered as new in 1995!! I've never seen that kind of tent with a side entry and scratchs! Luckily is was waterproof but the frame being not fixed start to fall on us duroing the night!!!!

Il a beaucoup soufflé cette nuit là et les tentes n'étant pas fixés, elles avaient tendances a nous tombé sur le visage!
The night was very windy and the tents were not fixed. Most of the time they were just above our face!

La nuit est tombée à 17h et très vite il a fait très froid! a 18h le repas était pris et à 20h on s'est tous réfugiés dans les sacs de couchages pour se réchauffer! La nuit fut silencieuse malgrés le vent: la periode de reproduction des oiseaux est passée, ils sont pour la plupart en mer.
It was dark at 17h and short after very cold! We ate at 18h (that's early for us!) and at 20h we all joined our sleeping bag to find some warmth. The night was silent in spite of the wind: reproduction time for the birds is over, there are almost all above the sea!

Au réveil, on se trouve dans un brouillard trés epais, la journée ne va pas être marrante!! Tout est humide et il va falloir se remettre en route!
In the morning we are in the fog, that was not a funny day!!! Every thing is wet, and we have to be on the road very soon!

Ça y'est, un vent du sud (direct du pôle!!) fort, beaucoup de pluie qui nous glace et le sol qui a tendance a s'enfoncer sous nos pas, une journée de marche très galère!!

Here we go, a south wind (direct from the pole!) lot of rain that froze us and the groung is soft. Not easy to walk on it.

Repas du midi sous la pluie... c'est pas facile de s'arreter, on se refroidit tout de suite

La descente vers Del Cano se fait preque bien... Etant dans le brouillard, on a un peu dévié de notre route ce qui nous a rallongé de 45 min la marche. Pas beaucoup vous diriez, mais c'etait les pires 45 minutes de la rando: devoir marché dans des scirpes haute de 1m20, où chaque pas est incertains et les chutes nombreuses!!!

Going to Del Cano is almost fine... Due to the fog, we unfortunately changed our road. We ahd to walk after 45 min more to correct it. 45min is not much but it was the hardest of the trip. Imlagine walking in "scirpes" of 1m20, each footstep is not sure and we falled many times

Enfin on rejoint la caisse bois, il ne pleut plus. On en profite pour monter le camp et à 15h, c'est spaghetti saucisses, cette journée galère nous a creusé l'appetit.
At last we joined the camp, it's not raining any more so we built the tent. 15h, time for eating, again, that long day of walk was so hard!!!

Nos "amis les rats" qui viennent manger nos restent et qui fouinent de partout, pas facile de dormir tranquillement!
Our "rats friends" who are eating our rest and are always looking for more food. No way to sleep quietly!

Dernier jour, le beau temps est de retour, heureusement, c'est bon pour le moral, le retour sur base se fait sans problème, mais on est épuisé!!! La perspective d'une bonne douche chaude et d'une bonne nuit de sommeil est une sacré motivation!

Last day, sun is back and that's good for the spirits! The way back is easy but we are exhausted. The perspective of a warm shower and a good night of sleep is the best motivation!
