Brest-IPEV

Pendant une semaine, les differents volontaires (VCAT) plus le personnel médical, les météo et le staff technique de la base Dumont d'urville en Terre adélie ont été réunis à Brest à l'institut paul emile victor (IPEV). Au total environ 50 personnes réunies autour du meme objectif: partir en hivernage au bout du monde pour 6 ou 12 mois. Au programme: présentations des differents programmes scientifiques menés dans les TAAF (terres antartiqures et australes francaises), description de la vie dans les differents district et surtout prise de contact avec les personnes qui vont partager cette aventure!

During my formation time, I spent one week in Brest with all the others volunteers going on these islands or in antartica. During this week, we were around 50 people (volunteers, medical staff, meteorologs...) having presentations of the different scientific programms carried out on the islands, presentation of the way of life other there. It was also a very good opportunity to meet my new family!

De tres bons moments passés durant les pauses café-quatre quart, sur les plages bretonnes ou au trimaran, le bar proche de l'auberge de jeunesse ou nous logions.
Very good time spent during coffee breaks, sharing cakes, on the beaches (sun all week long!!!) or in pubs

Voici la belle équipe de la 60eme mission d'Amsterdam!!! De gauche a droite: on commence par moi un des deux VCAT chimistes aerotrace, puis Cecile notre VCAT ornithologue, puis Adrien VCAT CO2,  Hélène notre médecin, Gabriel, le VCAT gener, Severine, la 2eme VCAT chimiste aerotrace et Pierre, le VCAT magnétisme-sismologie. Avec les bonnets polaires de l'IPEV qui tiennent chaud et qu'on sera trés content d'avoir avec nous une fois la bas!

On the picture, the team (just a part) of the 60th mission on Amsterdam island. From the left to the right, we start with me, as a chemist (working on aeroparticles), then Cecile, as an ornithologist, Adrien as a chemist (measuring CO2), Héléne our doctor, Gabriel, in charge of the organisation and gestion of the projects, Severine, the chemist working with me on aerotrace project, Pierre working on the magnetism and sismology part.

Une super semaine, pas trés envie de devoir retourner sur paris le vendredi et surtout qu'une hate, partagée par tous, partir au plus vite! Le départ est prévu pour le 2 Novembre pour la plupart d'entre nous (certains nous rejoindrons un mois plus tard). En attendant la formation a paris se poursuit avec Severine. Prochainement au programme: deux jours de missions a Lille et une semaine a Toulouse avant quelques jours de vacances bien merités!

A great week spent in Brest and on friday, really no motivation to go back to paris and its stressing life. Departure is planed for the 2nd of November and i really can't wait until then! But next steps, formation in Paris, 2 days of formation in Lille for the NASA and one week in Toulouse for Meteo-France and then one week holydays before leaving.

Yesterday (5/10)I was looking a the Dutch televison at a travel program (Drie op reis: ask the presenter what it means) and one of the presenters, Floortje Dessing is going to travel from Amsterdam to....Amsterdam.
Yes indeed your little island and I was thinking proablalby is was/is also on the boat you are traveling with? I'm looking forward to see you and your collegues and the Dutch televison....

ca y est, ton blog est dans mes favoris! J'espere que tu pourras souvent nous envoyer des nouvelles. Cela est une bonne experience que tu pourras raconter a ton filleul dans quelques annees. Profites-en a fond.
